The CTCOG Housing program assists in the expansion of housing opportunities for low-income families, the elderly, and disabled individuals in the region. Our staff is available to applicants, tenants, and landlords interested in the Section 8 Housing Assistance Program.

Housing Assistance

Our waiting list will open on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at noon until it fills up.  Please click here for access.  To prepare for your appointment, please use this checklist.  Additionally, it is always located on the “For Applicants” tab under Intake Checklist.  Our other forms are also located in this area.

Applicants must keep their contact information (mailing address and phone number) current with the office.  If mail is returned to us, the applicant will be removed from the waiting list.

How It Works

Applicants will need access to the internet, an up-to-date web browser, valid email address, and basic information about their household. Applicants will only be able to submit one application per household.

  • Dropped off at 2180 N Main Street, Belton TX 76513
  • Mailed to PO BOX 729, Belton, TX 76513

Basic Application Process:

  • Applicant fills out the pre-application to join the Waiting List
  • When we get to the applicant’s name on the Waiting List, we will send an Appointment Letter and Application in the mail via USPS. (Please make sure to keep your contact information current with us.)
  • The applicant brings all the required documents to the appointment
  • We process the application and determine approval or denial (most denials are for failure to turn in documents or being over income.  Please make sure to turn in all documents by the deadline!)  We have 90 days from the due date to finish processing your application.
  • If approved, the applicant will receive a letter for a Voucher Briefing Appointment.
  • At the Voucher Briefing Appointment, the applicant will learn about the program and details specific to the CTCOG Housing Division and receive the voucher.
  • The applicant must find a unit that accepts Section 8 and return the required paperwork.
