The Tactical Interviewing Method course is designed to instruct all types of law enforcement officers (Police, Corrections, Federal Agents, Parole, Probation, and others) from a variety of duty assignments (Narcotics, Robbery, Burglary, Gangs, Patrol, Investigations, Terrorism, etc.…), to conduct effective prisoner interviews (debriefings) of new arrestees, jailed prisoners, prison inmates, probationers, parolees, and other individuals for the purpose of acquiring intelligence information and cultivating informants.

  What makes the Tactical Interviewing Method distinctly different from conventional interviews and interrogations is its synergistic application of a variety of techniques. These techniques applied synergistically include, but are not limited to, a variety of psychological interview techniques, rapport building, detecting deception, kinesiology, subconscious interview tactics, and tactical phraseology. This course includes the combined application of classroom instruction, skill-building exercises, careful evaluation, and practical immersion interviews using human subjects (role players) and a balanced realistic level of difficulty. This training program provides all the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to go forth and immediately place the techniques into use in the real world.

INSTRUCTORCorporal James Wheeler, Pennsylvania State Police (retired) is a certified Tactical Interview Method instructor who has instructed this course since 2010 and has been a practitioner of this interview method since 2007. In fact, Corporal Wheeler, while actively engaged in counter-terrorist investigations for the PA State Police Intelligence Bureau created their Prisoner Debriefing Unit and worked closely with the NYPD Intelligence Division and Terrorist Interdiction Unit to cultivate an extensive cadre of informants who provided valuable intelligence on foreign terrorists operating in the US, domestic terrorists, extremists, gangs, drug traffickers, transnational organized criminal organizations and other criminals.
