The Center for Caregiver Excellence (CCE) is seeking people who have a caregiver’s heart and wish to be educated to become a Certified Nurse Aide. The CCE, a program of the Area Agency on Aging of Central Texas, is approved to teach the Texas State Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) and students who successfully graduate from this course meet the criteria to take the Texas Nurse Aide exam.
This curriculum meets all of the NATCEP requirements for 60 clock hours of classroom training and 40 clock hours of hands-on resident care in a nursing facility. The classroom portion of the course takes place at the CCE located at 2180 North Main in Belton. The hands-on clinical experience will take place at Senior Care of Marlandwood West in Temple. Some of the topics that will be covered in this course are communication and interpersonal skills, infection control, mental health and social service needs, and basic restorative services just to name a few.
The CCE facilities offer modern training equipment, simulation labs, and well-trained instructors at both the RN and LVN levels. CCE uses the unique Schmieding Method to train students how to care for an older adult in their home environment. The Schmieding Method is a formal, comprehensive curriculum that provides progressive levels of training enabling students the option to advance their education from the level of companion to certified nurse aide according to their personal goals.
No experience is necessary and tuition assistance loans at low rates are available.
