Temple Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Temple HHW

The City of Temple, in cooperation with Waste Management-Temple Landfill, Temple Iron & Metal and the Central Texas Council of Governments, will be hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event on Saturday, October 3rd from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The collection will be held at the Temple Service Center located at 3210 East Avenue H and residents living in Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Milam, Mills and San Saba counties are invited to participate.

You may bring any of the following: tile, toilet, oven and drain cleaners; polishes, ammonia, paints, stains, varnishes, paint thinners and/or removers, aerosol spray cans, pesticides, herbicides, insect repellants, fungicides, pool chemicals, automotive batteries, used oil & oil filters, old gasoline, transmission fluid, brake fluid, antifreeze and up to 8 passenger tires. A $1.00 surcharge will be placed on each tire over the limit. No tires on rims and no tires larger than 21.5-inch rim dimension. Goodwill will be accepting electronic items with the exception of refrigerators and CRT televisions. Businesses are encouraged to take part in the electronic recycling as well as home owners.

This upcoming Household Hazardous Waste collection is an opportunity for residents to dispose of these household hazards properly. The event offers a better alternative to throwing the materials in your household garbage to be disposed of in the landfill or igniting in the garbage truck causing a fire.

PROHIBITED items for this event include: infectious and medical wastes, biological and radioactive materials, compressed gas cylinders, ammunition, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and explosives. No commercial waste will be accepted as this event is for home hazards only, with the exception of electronics.

Funding for this event is being made possible by Waste Management-Temple Landfill and the Central Texas Council of Governments. The City of Temple appreciates the opportunity of being selected to host this type of event for our citizens and surrounding communities.
