“The Life Flight’s K9-CCC program is the first non-governmental agency program in the nation to provide care and transport to injured K9s through an established protocol and policy.” (TOCC)

In 2020, Life Flight became the first air civilian aeromedical service to provide training, treatment, and transportation for injured K9 officers.  This course has been extended to two days and will provide K9 handlers with emergency care training for their canines, including wound packing, poison control, CPR, and tourniquet use, through lecture and hands-on scenarios.  Handlers will also be trained on when it is appropriate and how to call an aeromedical service for severely injured K9 officers.  At the conclusion of the course each attendee will receive a K9 Specific Individualized First Aid Kit (IFAK).

This 16-hour course will be hosted by Coryell County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with Memorial Hermann Life Flight. This course is open to ALL Law Enforcement Officers and K9 handlers.

TCOLE credit will be available and reported through Coryell County Sheriff’s Office on behalf of all attendees.

Department K9s will NOT be required for Day 1. However, it is recommended handlers bring their K9s on Day2.
