This Basic Instructor Certification course is designed to provide the basic concepts of instruction and to increase the quality of professional law enforcement training.

This course introduces the student to the teaching-learning process, phases of the teaching-learning process, factors affecting learning, preparing a lesson plan, and

methods of instruction. The students will be taught how to develop and use instructional media to enhance their presentations. In addition, the fundamental techniques

of developing testing and evaluation procedures will be presented.

 

Instructed by: Lieutenant Michael De Leon possesses over 16 years of experience as a Texas Peace Officer serving as both a Patrol Officer and Deputy Constable for

Travis County, Texas. Over the years, he has consistently strived to enhance his skills and qualifications, obtaining certifications as a Mental Health Officer and certified

Crisis/Hostage Negotiator. His achievements include serving in various capacities, including Negotiator, Training Coordinator, and Team Commander in a

joint metro SWAT team. He holds several notable certifications, including an Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Master Peace Officer proficiency, Advanced Instructor

, and Instructor for De-Escalation.
