This course aims to provide students with the ability to delineate the definitions of human trafficking and sex crimes. Students will gain knowledge of the different types of exploitation such as sex trafficking, labor trafficking and child trafficking. Furthermore, the course will delve into the interrelation with societal problems like poverty, gender inequality, and migration. It is a course that offers valuable insights to individuals in the fields of law enforcement and emergency response.
Instructor Ricky Lynn: Ricky retired after 43 years of law enforcement. For the last ten years, Ricky was a human trafficking detective with the Lexington Police Department and then the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office. Ricky was the first full-time human trafficking detective in the state of Kentucky. Ricky is also a certified instructor by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. Ricky previously worked for the Department of Criminal Justice Training but has recently moved to the Frankfort Police Department as their lead SVU Detective. Ricky’s primary classes he instructs in are human trafficking, child abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence. Ricky provides instruction on human trafficking to telecommunicators and law enforcement all over the country. Ricky provides consultation for many of the County and Commonwealth Attorneys on human trafficking cases.
TCOLE credits will be reported by CTCOG.
