The Area Agency on Aging was one of many local sponsors for the recent 3rd Annual Alzheimer’s Symposium on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Mayborn Civic Center in Temple.
This day-long symposium offered a series of speakers, exhibitors, and a wealth of information geared toward those who support someone experiencing this disease. Some of the subjects presented were “Legal Planning for Alzheimer’s and Long Term Care,” “Grieving the Living,” and a keynote presentation, “When Roles Reverse: a Guide to Parenting Your Parents.”
In between sessions, attendees were able to visit exhibit tables sponsored by various home healthcare agencies, assisted living centers, and caregiver support organizations.
Christian Wells of the Capital of Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and Shawn Corzine of Sodalis Elder Living said, “We hope that when you leave here this afternoon you have: learned something new, met someone you didn’t know before, and found resources you didn’t know existed.” Plans are already underway organizing the next symposium.
