Do You Know the Leading Cause of Fatal and Non-Fatal Injuries in Older Americans: Falling

That’s right!  In fact, 1 out of 3 older Americans suffer from falls.  Falls can also be very costly – not only in dollars but to your quality of life as well.  However, falls are NOT an inevitable part of aging and many falls can be prevented.

Several local entities have joined together to offer a fall-prevention workshop on Thursday, March 3, 2016.  Please join the Area Agency on Aging of Central Texas along with Baylor Scott & White Health as they present the Senior Fall Prevention & Senior Health Fair from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Central Texas Council of Governments located at 2180 North Main Street in Belton.

The keynote speaker will be Paul Ace Friedman, MD, Physiatrist at Baylor Scott & White Health.  He will be providing his perspective as a rehab doctor regarding the subject of senior falls.  Other items on the agenda are:

  • wellness assessments,
  • exercise and movement demonstrations,
  • breakout sessions covering such topics as healthy bones along with spine and balance, and
  • exhibits, door prizes, and giveaways.

This event is FREE and open to the public.  Please come and join us!
