This is a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) elective De-Escalation of Force course offered for Texas Peace Officers, Jailers, and Telecommunicators.
Experienced police officers know that de-escalation techniques are inherently abnormal for experienced peace officers, but they are for everyday people, too. How often do you use de-escalation techniques on your significant other when they are upset with you? Such efforts can go against our natural fight or flight reflexes.
This class will be taught by Chief Lydia Alvarado.
Lydia Alvarado has 30 years in law enforcement experience. She has been a licensed instructor since 1991 and obtained a Vocational Teaching Certification in 1995.
Lydia has developed curriculum and instructed thousands of people in anti-drug and gang courses, youth group development, parent training, conflict resolution, college accredited criminal justice training, mental health certification, CIT training, communications, problem solving, crisis negotiations, and law enforcement ethics. Lydia has detailed and diversified law enforcement background, holding positions as Police Chief, Director of Emergency Services, training coordinator, investigator, internal affairs (supervisor/investigator), telecommunications, and correction’s.
