Description

Effective January 1, 2016, this class is required within two years of completion of the Basic Peace Officer Course.  This course also meets TCOLE requirements towards an Intermediate and Advanced Peace Officer Proficiency Certification.

Course topics include:

  • Texas State Animal Laws
  • Recognizing and Understanding Canine Behavior
  • Non-lethal tools/methods/resources to avoid and defend against canine attack
  • Conflict Avoidance, De-escalation, and Use of Force Continuum Principles
  • Other Techniques and Surviving an Attack
  • Identification of other common animal encounters

This class is taught by Jerry Muhamet.  Jerry is a full time law enforcement at his current position of Investigator for Milam County District Attorney.  He is a TCOLE certified Master Peace Officer, Mental Health Officer, Basic Instructor and ASP Integrated Weapons System Instructor.
