Lisa Dillon, PSAP Coordinator for the Central Texas Council of Governments, attended the groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday for the Belton Police Department Memorial. The memorial will honor all Belton Police officers who have served and are currently serving, as well as Deputy Albertus Sweet, who was killed in the line of duty December 9, 1881. Funding for the memorial has been made possible by Leadership Belton, the Belton Rotary, the City of Belton, the Grand Avenue Theater, and the Belton Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association.
